Frequently Asked Questions

Integration is the process of making meaning from a psychedelic experience — through reflection, conversation, lifestyle change, and time. The experience itself is data. Integration is what you do with it.
-
We're glad you reached out. Difficult experiences — sometimes called challenging trips or psychological crises — are more common than people admit, and they don't have to be faced alone. APS is not a clinical service, but our community includes people with significant experience in peer support, harm reduction, and integration. If you're in acute distress, please contact Lifeline (13 11 14) or Beyond Blue (1300 22 4636) first. If you're in the aftermath and looking for community support or a referral to an integration-informed therapist, reach out to us directly — we'll do our best to point you in the right direction without judgment.
-
Not at all. APS welcomes researchers, clinicians, curious newcomers, policy advocates, and people who are simply psychedelic-adjacent — partners of people in therapy, mental health professionals wanting to understand the landscape, or anyone drawn to the conversation. You don't need a psychedelic CV to belong here. Curiosity and good faith are the only prerequisites.
-
Harm reduction is a pragmatic, evidence-based approach that accepts people will make their own choices about substances and focuses on making those choices safer — rather than moralising about them.
-
Since TGA rescheduling in 2023, authorised prescribers can legally administer MDMA and psilocybin in clinical settings.
